Pay
Earnings of the occupation group "Professionals" in Croatia: ≈ 1,931 EUR/month (gross, 2022), from Eurostat. An occupation group is wider than one job title: it is the pay of everyone the group holds, not of teachers alone.
EU Blue Card salary threshold
Croatia publishes a current EU Blue Card threshold of 36,288 €/year. It is the minimum salary for that work route, not what teachers earn.
Regulation and recognition
Teacher is a regulated profession in Croatia.
- Recognition route
- General system of recognition - primary application. The Croatian government places regulated qualifications outside its seven automatic professions in the general system, which assesses education, knowledge, skills and experience; language proficiency may also be relevant. The precise teacher-title route and authority must be checked by the applicant's title and origin.
- Language requirement
- For a third-country national who has resided in Croatia for at least one year on an Article 97 stay-and-work permit (or the specific Article 110(32) route), amended Foreigners Act Article 92.a requires a standardised Croatian-language and Latin-script test at basic A1.1 level, with proof for a new/renewed covered permit. The Act identifies approved language schools, universities and authorised adult-education providers as test providers; exemptions include Croatian-educated applicants, speakers of a South-Slavic-subgroup language, and seasonal workers. This is an immigration-permit condition, not a profession-licensing language rule.
