Basic daily unemployment benefit is 55% of daily net income; the official page states the current 2026 assessment basis and supplements are added separately where applicable.

The official Austrian government page says that the unemployment-allowance rules also apply to all EU citizens in Austria. It requires employment subject to mandatory unemployment insurance: generally 52 weeks in the previous two years for a first claim, or 26 weeks for a first claim by a person under 25. This is the bounded profile of an EU citizen in Austria with the source-defined mandatory unemployment-insurance record; the remaining statutory availability and claim conditions also apply.

Per child and month for calendar years 2026 and 2027: EUR 138.40 from birth, EUR 148 from age 3, EUR 171.80 from age 10, and EUR 200.40 from age 19. Sibling supplements and the EUR 70.90 Kinderabsetzbetrag are separate components.

The Austrian official page identifies EU/EEA/Swiss cross-border family-benefit cases ('Bürgerinnen aus EU-, EWR-Staaten und der Schweiz') where the family's centre of life and residence are in Austria and the EU social-security coordination rules apply.

The current official BBU page states that the operational implementation of Grundversorgung for vulnerable and protection-needing foreigners covers ‘Asylwerberinnen und Asylwerber, Asylberechtigte, Vertriebene und andere aus rechtlichen oder faktischen Gründen nicht abschiebbare Menschen’. , recognized_refugee_in_austria_under_basic_provision and displaced_person_in_austria_under_basic_provision, retaining the source’s protected-person and basic-provision scope and not broadening the row to every foreign resident or to the excluded categories of the separate Sozialhilfe scheme.

RIS Grundversorgungsvereinbarung Art. 9, valid from 2025-01-01, publishes separate cost ceilings: EUR 25 per person per day for organised accommodation and food; EUR 260 per adult per month, EUR 145 per minor per month and EUR 260 per unaccompanied minor per month for food in individual accommodation; EUR 165 per single person per month or EUR 330 per family per month for rent; EUR 40 pocket money per person per month; EUR 370 one-time return bridging aid; and the additional listed care, school, leisure, course and clothing components.

Eligibility and amount details

The current Upper Austria Wohnbeihilfe is the difference between the eligible housing cost and the reasonable housing cost, paid for a maximum of one year, with a maximum of EUR 300 per month. For approvals beginning in 2026 the page states that the applicable income threshold is increased by EUR 100 from 1 January 2026.

The current official Upper Austria Wohnbeihilfe page states that non-EWR nationals may receive the housing benefit only when they have more than five years of uninterrupted lawful main residence in Austria, Austrian taxable income or Austrian statutory social-insurance income/benefits with the source-defined insurance-period record, and proof of German language skills. The source wording is: ‘Personen, die nicht Staatsangehörige eines EWR-Staates sind’ must have ‘ununterbrochen und rechtmäßig mehr als fünf Jahre in Österreich ihren Hauptwohnsitz’, qualifying Austrian taxable income or social-insurance periods and German-language proof. household, income, lease, residence and other statutory conditions still apply.

The current official Austrian Sozialhilfe page states that the individual Bundesländer have different Sozialhilfe rules and formulas. No single national amount is published in the retained source; the payable amount follows the applicable federal-state rule and the household income, asset, work-readiness and household-composition conditions.

The current official Austrian Sozialhilfe page states in its section ‘Staatsbürgerschaft’: ‘EU- bzw. EWR-Staatsangehörige haben nur vollen Anspruch auf Sozialhilfe, wenn sie als Arbeitnehmende in Österreich tätig sind oder wenn sie seit mehr als fünf Jahren in Österreich wohnen’; ‘Drittstaatsangehörige haben grundsätzlich nur nach mehr als fünfjährigem legalen Aufenthalt Anspruch’; ‘Asylberechtigte bekommen Sozialhilfe ab dem Zeitpunkt der Anerkennung als Flüchtling’; ‘Asylwerbende bekommen sie gar nicht’; and ‘Subsidiär Schutzberechtigte bekommen nur Kernleistungen aus der Sozialhilfe, die das Ausmaß der Grundversorgung nicht übersteigen’. , third_country_national_with_more_than_five_years_legal_residence_in_austria, recognized_refugee_in_austria and subsidiary_protection_beneficiary_in_austria_entitled_only_to_core_social_assistance; it does not broaden the excluded asylum-seeker or displaced-person categories into eligibility.
